DNA Testing at Weightmedics

Annie is a fully qualified Nutritionist graduating from the prestigious College of Naturopathic Medicine with a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy in 2017 and is currently the in-house Nutritional Therapist for Weightmedics.  Annie believes in focusing on the patient as an individual, made up of unique genes, with a unique lifestyle and can help support you in regaining vitality.

 

Functional Nutrition Consultations

Functional Nutrition is the 21st century approach to health and nutrition.  It is a person centred approach to health, based on patients individualised needs.  It looks at the underlying causes of imbalance in the body and focuses on identifying the root causes to significantly improve patient outcomes.

Our functional nutritionists approach involves an in-depth comprehensive analysis to provide you with a customised programme to help you achieve your goals.

imageFunctional Nutritionist: Lisa Smith

Lisa has over 15 years of clinical experience within the weight loss / disordered eating arena as part of an integrated team, working with clients with the focus upon getting the body to function properly. This is not achieved by looking at the number on a set of scales, nor comparing against standard BMI charts, as this will simply tell you how big or small you are but say nothing about your health.  She has a particular interest in looking at the impact of today’s stresses, both emotional and physiological upon health and wellbeing and these naturally encompasses factors  which can thwart any attempts at weight loss, and in some cases, add to weight gain, despite actively dieting and exercising.

As no two people are the same, Lisa treats every client as unique, taking a functional nutrition approach, and as opposed to taking a one size fits all approach, she seeks to identify, replenish, and rebalance the body, to support a healthy body composition and successful weight management.

Mindfulness

We are thrilled to now offer a 12-16 week Mindful Eating Programme to all of our patients via our Weightmedics App.  Created by Mindfulness expert Julia Karnacz, this specially designed programme includes journaling activities, as well as taking a mindful moment to listen to our ‘MINDFUL MOMENT’ audio each week.  As you journey through this experience; you will notice how much this process can enhance your experience and your weight management results.  These are life-long and life-style lessons that you can then take with you both during your programme and beyond.

                                              Mindfulness Expert: Julia Karnacz

Julia is a qualified Nutritionist and Mindfulness (MBSR) coach as well as a wellbeing (Yoga/Breathwork/Meditation) practitioner for both children (Seedlings Wellbeing Ltd) and adults. Julia is passionate about a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. She believes that by creating a body-mind connection approach and tuning into ourselves physically and mentally allows us to respond intuitively to our true hunger responses and therefore builds a positive, sustainable and healthy relationship with food and a healthy weight as a result.

 

Movement

Our Movement at Weightmedics programme is now available on the Weightmedics App.  In addition to your medication plan and a healthier diet, regular physical activity is an important part of your weight management journey.  Not only will it help you burn extra calories, but it will also keep you motivated and improve your general health and wellbeing.  With our friendly in-house personal trainer Ed to guide you through the simple and structured videos over 12 weeks, as you work through the carefully created workouts you’ll slowly tone up and build strength, getting fitter week by week.

There are modifications suitable for absolute beginners, as well as those with some experience of exercise.  *Always consult your GP before starting an exercise programme*.

                                                           Movement Trainer: Ed Harbourne

Ed is an Inner Transformation Coach and has been in the fitness industry for over a decade, helping thousands of clients achieve an empowering sense of understanding and appreciation for their minds, as well as their bodies. In doing this, Ed’s blueprint to ultimate health and performance is ensuring these three fundamentals are addressed: lifestyle and behaviour change coaching, progressive nutrition and movement.  

As a recognised wellness coach and accredited CBT and hypnotherapist, Ed has a unique capacity as a personal trainer to understand the importance of accountability, supporting busy professionals when faced with the often-daunting task of improving and maintaining physical health and fitness.
