In the UK over 1 in 4 adults live with a high body weight. At Weight Medics, we recognise that weight loss can be challenging and that everyone’s journey is different. Losing weight with Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) is a significant achievement, and one that can bring better health outcomes and improve confidence. However, as your body changes it’s also normal to notice changes in your skin, particularly some laxity, loss of firmness or fine lines.
This isn’t something to feel discouraged by. Skin often takes longer to adapt to rapid weight loss, and these changes are a natural part of the process. The good news is that there are a range of effective, evidence-based treatments available to support your skin, improve firmness, and restore a fresher, more lifted appearance over time. If you’re looking to start Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) , are currently on it or have reached your ideal weight and now stopped it, let’s support your skin.
We would like to offer our current and future Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) patients a free specialist skin consultation with Dr Luca at our sister clinic Cavendish Clinic Fitzrovia.
Here Dr Luca will explore clinical grade skincare, injectables, skin rejuvenation techniques, energy-based devices, revolutionary minimally invasive procedures and even surgical options (where appropriate) that are tailored to your needs and budget.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR CONSULTATION:
SKIN ASSESSMENT
Formal skin assessment under our skin analysis machine. This will allow Dr Luca to assess the composition of your skin more accurately. Following this Dr. Luca will talk you through our leading SkinCeuticals topical skincare products tailored to your needs and to limit or prevent drier, looser and thinner skin that can happen with rapid weight loss.
INJECTABLES CONSULTATION
Following this Dr Luca will talk you through the latest in skin rejuvenation products to hydrate the skin as well as skin biostimulators to help restore volume and skin tightness. For more noticeable volume loss, dermal filler considerations will also be explored to restore structure while maintaining natural proportions.
MILD FACE, NECK AND BODY SKIN LAXITY
Dr Luca will assess and explore the appropriateness of standard microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) microneedling. These are incredible tools to help stimulate collagen production to reduce fine lines, tighten skin and contour/reduce areas of stubborn fat.
MODERATE FACE, NECK AND BODY SKIN LAXITY
In cases of moderate skin laxity, Dr. Luca will also explore the options of Quantum 10 / FaceTite Face Tightening and Quantum 25 / BodyTite Body Tightening. These are revolutionary minimally invasive procedures that drastically tighten skin and reduce fat with minimal downtime and without the need for surgical management.
SEVERE FACE, NECK AND BODY SKIN LAXITY
At Cavendish and Weight Medics we take pride in transparency and evidence-based practice. We also believe in tailoring care to the needs of the patient. As a proudly plastic surgeon-led clinic, we also offer the opportunity to explore surgical options in cases of severe skin laxity when appropriate or when less invasive means are unlikely to yield good results.
Whether you’re considering Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) and want to be ahead of the game, currently on Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) and want to limit skin changes over time or if you’re done with your Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) and now want to improve your skin, it’s never too late. Does Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) cause loose skin?
Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) itself doesn’t directly cause loose skin. What happens is that rapid fat loss, which Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) is very effective at producing, can outpace your skin’s ability to contract and adapt. Skin elasticity depends on your age, genetics, how much weight you lose, and how quickly you lose it. Patients who lose 15% or more of their body weight are most likely to notice changes in skin firmness, particularly around the face, neck, arms, and abdomen.
The good news is that these changes are manageable. Starting a skincare and skin-support plan early, ideally before or during your Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) treatment rather than after, gives your skin the best chance of keeping up with your weight loss.
What is “Mounjaro face” and can it be treated?
Mounjaro face is an informal term for the facial volume loss that some patients experience during significant weight loss. As fat pads in the cheeks, around the eyes, and along the jawline reduce, faces can appear more hollow, gaunt, or aged. It’s the same effect sometimes called “Ozempic face” with semaglutide.
It’s not a medical condition and it’s not harmful, but it can feel discouraging when you’re otherwise happy with your weight loss progress. Treatments range from clinical-grade skincare and skin biostimulators to restore hydration and firmness, through to dermal fillers for more targeted volume replacement. A specialist like Dr Luca at Cavendish Clinic Fitzrovia can assess exactly what’s needed based on your individual skin profile.
When should I start thinking about skin support during Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) treatment?
As early as possible. The most effective approach is proactive rather than reactive. If you’re about to start Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) or you’re in the early stages of treatment, that’s the ideal time to get a skin assessment and begin a tailored skincare routine. Clinical-grade products with active ingredients like retinol, hyaluronic acid, and peptides can help maintain skin quality as your body composition changes.
That said, it’s never too late. Patients who have already completed their Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) treatment and are now noticing skin laxity still have a full range of options available to them, from topical products through to energy-based treatments and injectables.
Can I prevent loose skin while taking Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) ?
You can’t guarantee prevention, but you can significantly reduce the risk. The most evidence-backed strategies are resistance training two to three times per week (muscle provides structural support under the skin), eating enough protein to support skin repair and collagen production, staying well hydrated, and using clinical-grade skincare that actively supports elasticity and firmness.
Slower, steadier weight loss also helps. While Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) can produce rapid results, working with your clinician to manage the pace of your weight loss gives your skin more time to adapt. A proactive skin assessment, like the one offered through Dr Luca at Cavendish Clinic, helps you build a plan tailored to your skin type and the amount of weight you expect to lose.
What is RF microneedling and how does it help with skin tightening?
RF (radiofrequency) microneedling combines two proven technologies. Tiny needles create micro-channels in the skin, and radiofrequency energy is delivered through those channels to heat the deeper tissue layers. This stimulates your body’s natural collagen and elastin production, which gradually tightens and firms the skin over the following weeks and months.
It’s effective for fine lines, mild to moderate skin laxity, and overall skin texture. Most patients see noticeable improvement after two to four sessions, with results continuing to develop for up to six months. It works on the face, neck, and body, making it a versatile option for patients experiencing skin changes across multiple areas after Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) weight loss.
Is the skin consultation only for patients who have finished Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) ?
No. The consultation is open to anyone at any stage of their Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) treatment. Whether you’re considering starting Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) and want to get ahead of potential skin changes, currently taking it and noticing early signs of laxity, or have completed your course and now want to address skin concerns, Dr Luca can help. Starting earlier generally gives you more options and better outcomes, but there are effective treatments available at every stage.
Do I need to be a Weight Medics patient to book the skin consultation?
The free skin consultation is offered to current and future Weight Medics Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) patients. If you’re currently being treated through Weight Medics or planning to start a Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) programme with them, you’re eligible for the complimentary consultation at Cavendish Clinic Fitzrovia. Contact Weight Medics directly to arrange your appointment.
Will my skin tighten on its own after I stop losing weight?
It depends. For younger patients with good skin elasticity who have lost a moderate amount of weight, skin can naturally firm up over 6 to 12 months after weight stabilises. Consistent strength training and good nutrition help this process along.
For patients over 40, those who have lost three stone or more, or those who lost weight quickly, natural tightening alone is unlikely to fully resolve skin laxity. That’s where professional treatments come in. A skin assessment helps set realistic expectations about what your skin is likely to do on its own versus what might benefit from clinical support.
